While one of the main causes of dry, cracking skin is the arid winter air, other factors can impact heels. Common problems that contribute to heel fissures include but are not limited to:
Skin loses its ability to stretch with age, so cracks are more common as you get older. Diabetes can interrupt the body's ability to produce oils, making the skin less supple and more susceptible to extreme dryness.
Disease and disorders such as athlete's foot, psoriasis, eczema, and thyroid disease may cause cracked heels. Excess weight can create extra pressure on the feet.
Prolonged standing in ill-fitting shoes can become a problem due to added pressure. Poorly structured feet can sometimes lead to abnormal gait that produces calluses to the heel. Water, especially running water, can rob the skin of its natural oils and this can leave the skin dry and rough. Deficiency of vitamins, minerals and zinc can lead to skin breakdown as well.

One of the first signs of dry, cracked heels is formation of thick, discolored callus tissue that may cause pain with everyday pressure-related activities like walking or running. If the callus goes untreated and continuous pressure is applied, then you may eventually notice small or even deep breaks that may cause bleeding to occur. If not properly cared for, this may cause an infection. The skin to the heels may begin to redden or become severely inflamed. Diabetics must check their feet daily because these changes can go unnoticed due to a decreased ability to feel their feet.

Conservative treatment of dry, cracked heels is easily prevented by wearing adequate supportive shoes and with regular use of moisturizers. Ideally, the goal is to prevent cracks from first forming.
If healing is slow, your podiatrist or other healthcare practitioner may decide to remove specific callus tissue to help the healing process. Do not attempt this at home or at local pedicurist, as this can lead to infection or excessive skin removal if done improperly. Pay close attention to your feet daily and ideally you can avoid this from day one!

Love how this went from removing dead skin to a girl who wants to tell the world that her husband lasts 30 minutes in bed now all we need is a feminist to make it a party.

I live at the beach and always wear flip flops. My feet dry out and crack badly, so much so, that I can barely walk. I found a very good solution, soak feet in warm water with ACV and alcohol twice a week, for about fifteen to twenty minutes. Then after my feet have softened up, I use a 3 1/2 inch, 80 grit, grinder wheel sanding pad (buy at Home Depot) to sand off the built up dry skin around the area where my feet are cracked (usually the heels). Then I dip them back in the foot bath to rinse. I dry off my feet and they instantly feel and look better, plus the deep parts of the cracks dry up and heal after the treatment. I am still working on my feet but they are eighty percent better in just three weeks.

For feets sake, nice feet are the sexiest thing ever. Take care of them and let the rest of your body go to the dogs lol. Youâll have plenty of time then. For those of you who took the foot remedies seriously, great. For those of you who took the downtrodden wife stuff seriously, get a life bahahaha. Shilpa could always rub coconut oil on his willy, and let him finish the job off by himself while she attends to her feet. I sincerely hope she doesnât ignore other importsnt stuff like showering, watching tele, and eating desert because of him bahahahahahahahaha.
Feministsays:2 years ago
What cracks me up is how instead of just letting it be, everyone jumped on her because her relationship did not meet their own standards. So instead of assuming she is happy, they all told her how sad it is and she needs a new man. People are really self centered at times. I am a feminist, so I am here to get the party started! Feminist lady sayâ¦â¦â¦â¦ as long as she is not hurting anyone she is allowed to chose any man and any role she chooses as long as she is happy and healthy. Feminism is about supporting women, not bashing them. If they want to be a housewife, good. If they want to stay single forever, good. It does not matter as long as she is happy, healthy, and not hurting anyone. Be who you chose to be because you chose it. Feminism is not about hating tradition or men. We just want equal opportunity. We do not think men are dumb animals that are slaves to desire, and we do not think women are the weaker sex. Equality means equality for both men and women, and not bashing them for the life they chose, and helping them if they need it. Do not be so quick to judge. You arenât perfect either. Support, donât judge.

Couldnât agree more with you feminist. Everybody has rights and opinions and they should be respected. Heres how i approached the problem.
My missus suffered from cracked feet for years so i had to let her go, unfortunatey. It might seem a bit heartless but the pain was interfering with my bedroom requirements and it had become a serious issue. Now Iâve found a lovely lass with beautiful, supple skin who is more than happy to hoist her feet in the air for as long as it takes. marti morrisonsays:2 years ago

Dear Folks, I have been suffering for many years trying to conquer my extremely dry cracked feet with home remedies . Didnât want to take pills etc. Every step the skin on my feet cracked more. Painful, staggering itchiness. Horrible. I actually hobbled along.Recently I put saliscystic acid on my feet (I wanted an antiseptic ). I am telling you right now, go buy some in the skin care aisle. OVERNIGHT there was a marked improvement. 3 weeks into applying daily 80% of the dry skin is GONE. Pink nice skin coming back. I thought I had to live with this forever. Please just try it. It worked for me and I had a very bad case of dry, huge thick flakey peeling skin. Straight saliscystic acid and rub it in, (usually 2% or higher if you can find it). Hopefully this helps you too. Havenât seen this home remedy anywhere. Best of luck!
